Ordinary plumbing, clearly defined.

Choose a single installation or include plumbing within a larger project. The exact scope, access and availability are confirmed before booking.

01

Taps, sinks & basins

Replace a dripping or worn tap, fit a new kitchen sink or update a basin. We discuss the product, access to connections, isolation and any changes to the surrounding surface before agreeing the installation.

02

Toilets, baths & showers

Plan the replacement or installation of sanitaryware and its water and waste connections. Moving a fitting, accessing a concealed cistern or fitting a different size can add work beyond a straightforward replacement.

03

Supply pipes & waste pipes

Repair accessible pipework or plan new routes for a kitchen or bathroom layout. The agreed scope should identify the connections, access openings and any work needed to make the surrounding area good afterwards.

04

Leaks & faulty connections

Tell us where water appears, when it happens and which fitting seems affected. We assess the proposed next step and access required. The visible mark may be some distance from the source, so photographs alone may not establish the cause.

05

Washing machines & dishwashers

Connect appliances to suitable water and waste points. Share the appliance model and a photograph of the existing connections. New pipework, cabinet alterations and electrical work must be identified separately.

06

Plumbing for renovations

Coordinate positions and connections with your cabinet, sanitaryware and room layout. Confirm product dimensions and the work sequence before fitting begins, including any later access needed for maintenance.

This service covers ordinary domestic plumbing. Gas appliances, boiler repairs, specialist drain jetting and specialist concealed-leak surveys are outside the scope of this page. The enquiry form is for planned work and does not provide an emergency attendance service.

One project, connected services.

Kitchen plumbing

Plan the sink, dishwasher and washing-machine connections around the cabinet layout. Share the supplier drawing so access and positions can be discussed together.

Bathroom plumbing

A complete bathroom involves more than connecting fittings. Waterproofing, tiling, ventilation and finishing should be included in the wider room specification.

After a leak

Plumbing addresses the pipe or connection. Repairs & Leaks covers the surrounding damage and reinstatement, with the source and condition of the affected area considered first.

What can plumbing work cost?

Use these figures to begin a budget conversation. They are published market references, not fixed AVX prices or a quotation for your property.

Published reference ranges for selected plumbing tasks
WorkReference rangeWhat needs checking
Tap / fixture installation£120–£300Product supply, existing connections and access
Pipe / drainage work£220–£440Length, route, openings and reinstatement
Appliance water / waste connection£60–£150Whether suitable connection points already exist

These are indicative UK planning ranges, not all-inclusive AVX prices. VAT treatment is not established for the guide figures. Your quotation should confirm attendance, labour, product supply, materials and applicable VAT.

Day-rate reference

For longer plumbing work, £300–£500 per day can be used as an indicative London labour allowance. Confirm applicable VAT in your quotation. A day rate does not establish the total number of days required or the complete job price. Do not add it again where labour is already included in a task quotation.

What changes the final price?

  • Replacing in the same position versus moving the fitting or pipe route.
  • Access behind units, tiled panels, floors or concealed fittings.
  • The condition of existing valves, connections and surrounding materials.
  • Who supplies fittings, specialist parts and consumables.
  • Parking, flat access, building restrictions and waste removal.
  • Any separate electrical work, tiling, plastering or decoration.

Before booking, the written quotation should explain the work, materials, attendance charges if any, exclusions and applicable VAT. Additional work and its effect on cost and timing should be agreed before it proceeds.

A practical plan for the work.

A straightforward replacement with accessible, suitable connections may be completed within one visit. Several fittings, altered pipe routes or work coordinated with tiling can require multiple visits. These are planning expectations, not guaranteed completion times.

01 / YOUR ENQUIRY

Show us the job

Choose Plumbing in the form. Add your postcode, contact details, a description and photographs. Tell us whether you want a replacement, repair or new installation.

02 / SCOPE & PRICE

Agree the details

We review the information and discuss whether a visit is needed. Confirm products, access, any inspection charge, the written scope and the proposed timing before booking.

03 / WORK & HANDOVER

Check the result

Allow for access and agreed interruptions to the water supply. At handover, review the agreed work, operation and connections, any remaining finishing and product care information.

Let us know if this is your only toilet, bathroom or kitchen water supply. Discuss arrangements for any interruption before the work starts.

Help us understand the job first.

Useful photographs include a wide view, the fitting itself and any accessible connections. Do not remove fixed panels or disturb a leaking fitting just to get a photograph.

  • Give the number of fittings and rooms involved.
  • Include product names, links or dimensions if already chosen.
  • Describe visible symptoms and when they occur.
  • Explain whether the current layout will stay or change.
  • Mention stairs, parking, shared access and working-hour restrictions.
  • Tell us about planned deliveries and other trades.

Plumbing questions, answered.

Can I book a small plumbing job?

Yes. Describe the installation or repair and include your postcode. We will confirm the scope and availability before accepting a booking. Any attendance or minimum charge should be explained beforehand.

Can I supply my own tap or sanitaryware?

Yes. Send the exact model and dimensions before ordering where possible. Suitability, missing parts and any changes to existing connections need to be considered. Agree who handles an unsuitable or faulty product.

Can you move my sink or toilet?

Send the current and proposed positions. Feasibility depends on the property and available water and waste routes. New openings, making good and other associated work must be included in the agreed scope.

Does appliance connection include electrical work?

The plumbing scope covers suitable water and waste connections. Any electrical installation or alteration is a separate part of the project and must be agreed with the appropriate specialist.

Is a leaking ceiling a plumbing job or a repair job?

The source of the water needs to be established and addressed. Plumbing may be required for a faulty pipe or fitting; Repairs & Leaks can cover the damaged ceiling and other finishes. You can describe both in one enquiry.

Can you guarantee a price from photographs?

Photos can help with an initial discussion, but they cannot show every concealed connection or access issue. A visit may be necessary before confirming a price. Any initial figure should state its assumptions.

Are materials and VAT included in the guide prices?

The external market references do not establish a VAT basis or a complete specification for your job. Your AVX quotation should clearly identify supply items, labour, any attendance charge, exclusions and applicable VAT.

Will you repair tiles or decoration after plumbing work?

Only where agreed in the scope. Tell us what finish you expect, including whether matching materials are available. Local making good and redecoration of a complete surface are different amounts of work.

Do you repair gas boilers or provide emergency call-outs?

Those services are not offered through this ordinary-plumbing page. The assessment form is for planned enquiries and does not promise immediate attendance. Do not wait for a form response where urgent help is needed.

When will you reply to my enquiry?

We’ll respond within 24 hours to discuss the next steps. This is a response to your enquiry, not a promise of a completed repair or a final quotation within that period.
