LVT & vinyl
Send the exact product name: click flooring, glued planks and sheet vinyl need different installation plans. We confirm the proposed system and preparation for your room before agreeing the work.
Engineered wood
Let us know the board dimensions, finish and preferred layout. Straight planks, patterned layouts and different fixing systems can involve different amounts of cutting, preparation and fitting.
Removal & preparation
Tell us what covers the floor now and whether anything underneath has already been inspected. Removal, disposal and any agreed preparation will be identified in the quotation.
Skirting, trims & thresholds
Decide whether to retain existing skirting or replace it. Include doorways, transitions between rooms and the finish at steps or changes in height so these details are priced from the start.
Flooring within a renovation
Coordinate the floor with kitchen fitting, bathroom work and other trades. We discuss the sequence, deliveries and access so the chosen floor is considered within the whole room plan.

The fitted ranges already include installation. Do not add a separate fitting charge to the same work. Preparation, removal and trims may be additional: check the written scope before adding any allowance.
A quotation you can compare.
A price per square metre is useful only when you know what it covers. Ask for these items to be listed so you can compare complete scopes.
Flooring supply
Identify the exact product, quantity, delivery and who orders it. Include underlay, adhesive or other system components where required. Confirm how spare material and unopened packs will be handled.
Installation labour
Specify rooms, measured areas and the laying pattern. Alcoves, numerous doorways and intricate cutting can change the workload even where the total area stays the same.
Preparation & removal
Separate the agreed work on the existing floor from the new installation. If lifting reveals a problem, agree the proposed remedy and any revised cost before that extra work proceeds.
Finishing & access
List skirting, trims, door adjustments and decorating where included. Agree furniture handling, waste collection, parking and access arrangements, along with any applicable VAT.
Planning example: an approximately 20 m² room
Start with the measured fitting area, then obtain a product quantity that allows for the agreed layout and cuts. Measure skirting separately in linear metres. Ask for removal, preparation and finishing as separate lines where they are not already included. A photograph and approximate dimensions can begin the discussion; the final measurements and specification need confirmation.
Plan the sequence, not just the fitting day.
The programme depends on the area, layout, existing floor and selected installation system. Confirm the fitting dates after the preparation requirements and product availability are known.
Assess & specify
Share room dimensions, photographs and product details. Confirm the scope, supply responsibilities, access and whether a site visit is needed.
Prepare the room
Arrange furniture clearance and deliveries. Allow for agreed removal and preparation, plus any product-specific waiting or conditioning periods.
Complete the details
Fit the agreed flooring and finishing items, then review the work together. Confirm when the room can be used and receive the relevant product care instructions.
For a simple room with a suitable, ready substrate, 1–2 fitting days can be a useful initial allowance. This is a planning estimate, not a completion guarantee. Preparation, patterned layouts, several rooms or manufacturer-required waiting periods can extend the overall programme.

Your flooring questions.
Can I supply my own flooring?
Yes. Send the exact product and fitting instructions before arranging installation. Confirm the quantity, matching trims and system components with your supplier. Agree responsibility for shortages, damaged packs and unsuitable products before the fitting date.
Can I ask for labour only?
Yes. Say that you want installation only and tell us what you will supply. The quotation should still identify preparation, consumables and finishing, rather than assuming every item is included.
Does the guide include materials and VAT?
The table describes each published reference as far as its source allows. The source does not state a VAT basis. Your AVX quotation will need its own clear supply specification, labour scope and applicable VAT treatment.
Can you quote for more than one room?
Yes. List the rooms and approximate areas. Tell us whether the same product will continue between them and which thresholds or transitions you expect.
Can flooring be part of my kitchen or bathroom project?
Yes. Mention it when requesting the wider renovation. The floor specification, installation sequence and interfaces with cabinets or fittings should be agreed together.
Is every product suitable for a bathroom?
Do not assume suitability from the flooring category alone. Send the precise product specification so the intended room and installation system can be checked against the manufacturer’s instructions.
Can you keep my existing skirting?
Tell us whether you want it retained. We will discuss the proposed edge detail and whether any removal, replacement or redecoration should be included.
What if the floor underneath needs more work?
If the agreed scope cannot cover the condition found, discuss the next step and obtain an agreed price for the additional work before it proceeds. The visible surface may not reveal the condition underneath.
Do I have to move furniture?
Agree this before booking. Identify any heavy items and a place to store them. If you need assistance, request it explicitly so labour and access can be allowed for.
